With splendid weather, clear skies and warm temperatures greeting folks, the Hovland Art’s Festival made a triumphant return after canceling last year’s “in-person” gathering.
The sign above the booth at the July 3 and 4th Arts Festival entrance proclaimed “Welcome Back,” so after missing a year because of the pandemic, people flocked to the Hovland Townhall to see all of the new creations local artists had made.
While people shopped or stopped to look inside the town hall or tents outside, local musicians could be heard in the background. Entertainers included Shannon Crossbear (storyteller), Jim McGowan, Bump Blomberg, Briand Morrison and Joe Paulik.
The arts festival is a semi-annual event showcasing the talent and artistry of Hovland residents or folks who have ties to Hovland.
Featured artists displaying their paintings, photographs, jewelry, handcrafts or wares were Marcie McIntire, Lou Pignolet, Julie Kean, Jim Vannett, Dee Closson, Sue Hangge, Bonnie Gay Hedstrom, Howard Hedstrom, Meadow Adams, Gary Arands, Jo Wood, Jamie Rex, Katie Irvin, Terry Lewis, Clare Schmidt, Linda Newman, Carol Conrad, Joan Farnum, Halie Bockovich, Kim Knutson, Rachel Rae and Hovland Fire Department artists.
Other artists included James Egan, Sue Zimmerman, Todd Hawkinson, Jeff Morgan, Bill Youmans, Kathleen Gabrielsen, Signe Pearson, Andy Osman, Terry Spieker, Mary McDonald, and more.
