Hospital culture survey disappointing

Regarding the hospital employee culture survey:

I find it very concerning that the report card from Jeffery Thompson’s (North Shore Hospital) Employee Culture Survey is a mere “C” grade (3.02 out of 5.0). Especially after five years of the current hospital administrator and her management staff. You see, there was the initial Jeffery Thompson visit, just after the administrator took the position. Morale on the nursing side was quite low and Jeffery Thompson was brought in to talk to employees.

So now here we are, five years of the current administrator and her nursing management staff, and morale is still in the toilet. (For several reasons.) I know of at least three high quality North Shore Hospital office employees that have left their positions since the administrator has taken the helm and the hospital board hasn’t gotten the message yet.

Just to review the summary from Jeffery Thompson’s (recent) Employee Culture Survey:

“These results indicate that the organization is seen by employees as inconsistent and fairly ineffective in its approach to job performance, employee morale, culture, quality and productivity and the organization should take structured measures to improve.”

This latest survey is really a report card for the last five years. It is past time for the hospital board to seriously address the management issues at North Shore Hospital. (There was supposed to be “structured measures to improve” after the first survey but obviously that was a fruitless effort.) I believe changes in the current management team are in order.
