Two positions on the North Shore Health hospital board will be up for election this fall.
District 2, which is currently held by Justin Mueller, and District 4, held by incumbent Kay Olson, will both be on the November 8 ballot. Both said they were running again.
When asked why she decided to run again Olson said, “I guess the most rewarding thing (after a high learning curve when I got on board) is trying to keep this hospital viable so we can continue to have a hospital in our community. That is something important to me personally and what I hear from people in the community is ‘What would we do if we lost the hospital?’”
Mueller said, “I’m most excited about recent investments in the hospital and care center staff. I realize the new facility is the most visual investment, but many of us don’t see the continuing education classes and leadership training sessions our staff is involved in. Nor do we see the every day learning involved in the ongoing transition to a household model in our care center.”
The filing period will be open from 8 a.m., August 2, 2016 until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Candidates must live in the districts they are filing for, and must register with the Cook County auditor. Cost to file is $2.
The 16-bed critical access hospital and 37-bed skilled nursing facility are currently undergoing a $24.5 million expansion and rehabilitation, with the first of four phases just completed.
