Without trying to sound rude, I felt the response to my “Energy” opinion was underwhelming at best. I can’t see Cook County and solar energy ever being described as the Holy Grail. Solar energy being the least efficient renewable and battery systems still less than stellar, we still keep beating that drum. With just the cost alone to live up here, I hardly feel that we would have hundreds much less than thousands of people who could afford the 15-20 thousand dollars to outfit their homes with solar panels. “Oh, but wait, what about the energy tax credit? Great, now it’s only going to cost 12 –16 thousand dollars (this was before our skyrocketing inflation took over so probably back to 15-20K) Perhaps we would propose that Great River Energy could “fund” this project. (Just kidding!)
I also noticed how the response completely avoided the nuclear discussion again. Sun and wind are not the only options out there. Do your own research. It’s not that hard to find and wind and solar are not consistent. One only has to reference California in the summertime to see how well that works.
I also find it interesting how solutions come so easy to some but have no basis in reality (for the most of us). This falls into the similar vein as those pushing the $60,000 electric cars that nobody can afford but hey. “What a great Solution”, If you happen to be a rich Elite with your solar house where you can charge your $100,000 Tesla without worry, “good for you”. Unfortunately, that’s not the reality for most of us up here.
In my humble opinion, Cook County, holy grail, and solar energy should not be in the same sentence.
