Visitors during Thanksgiving weekend can enjoy activities in Grand Marais, Lutsen and Hovland including: . Black Friday – Give up mall shopping for old-fashioned fun. The Minnesota State Parks are waiving admission, offering a chance to explore Temperance River, Cascade River, Judge C.R. Magney, and Grand Portage State Park. . Be a part of history – Take a ride during the grand opening of the new Doppelmayr gondola at Lutsen Mountains. An opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m. . Visit Grand Marais Christmas Village, featuring Oh Ole Night Parade, tree lighting ceremony, fireworks and caroling. The public is invited be a part of the parade. Participants should gather at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27 at 10 Broadway in Grand Marais. Festivities will continue into the evening. . Shop Local Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during Holiday Market at Last Chance Gallery in Lutsen. Christmas carols and traditional tree lighting at 6 p.m. . Hovland Arts Festival holiday sale at Hovland Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. Local artists share their wares. . The New Standards Holiday Show, now in its ninth year, has become a beloved yuletide institution in the Twin Cities and beyond. The first performance of the season takes place Friday, Nov. 27 on Papa Charlie’s intimate stage.
