The residents at North Shore Care Center are getting into the spirit of the season with holiday crafts, decorating, and more baking.

Ethel Johnson will make homemade lefse on December 8 and Friday Bake Days will be busier than usual as residents prepare for the annual Christmas Eve party with families, Santa, and Mrs. Claus.

Spirits will be lifted with lots of music at the Care Center in December. There will be school groups, carolers of all ages, and many of our favorite musicians—Al Fuller, Susan Scherer, Irene Thompson, Susy Lindskog, Laura Laky, Harris Mills, and Art Bjorngjeld.

Residents look forward to going out to attend the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Church and the holiday play The Best
Christmas Pageant Ever
at the ACA.

The December birthday party will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 8 at 3 p.m. to honor Margot Florell and Donna Helmerson. Cake and ice cream will be served with piano music by Susan Scherer.

The Arrowtippers are (L-R) Palmer and Nelda Westerlind, Alicia and Steve Deschene, Florence and George Bloomquist, and Bobbie and Dick Bockovich.

On Saturday, December 18, the Grand Marais Lioness Club will sponsor a Christmas social for residents at 3 p.m. Holiday desserts will be served with music provided by Irene Thompson.

There will be a special Christmas dance on Saturday, December 11 with the classic country music band Portage.
Families, friends, and community members are welcome to join in the fun starting at 6:30 p.m.

On New Year’s Eve the residents will help host WTIP’s popular radio show Remember
When
on site at the Care Center. The show will feature classic music from the ’40s and ’50s with selections and remarks from residents. The program will be recorded at 6 p.m. and air at 8 p.m. on 90.7 FM. What a way to ring in the New Year!

‘Tis the season to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The residents especially want to thank the staff and volunteers who do so much for them throughout the year. We look forward to more good times with you in 2011.
