As we enter into this season of giving, the residents want to thank our many volunteers who so generously share their time and talents throughout the year. The companionship and joy that you bring into our home is greatly appreciated, and you all are truly a gift to us. We count our blessings for family, friends, North Shore Health staff, and community members who are so committed to the elders who live here.
We also want to thank the American Legion Honor Guard who came to the Care Center on November 12 to honor our veterans.
We have a lot of fun activities planned for December, starting with the Resident Council Holiday Sale scheduled for December 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The residents have been busy making crafts and baking goodies for the event. All proceeds go to the Resident Council to purchase items that they may desire for their home.
A couple of outings are planned this month thanks to Arrowhead Transit and the great drivers who make it possible every season of the year. Several residents will be attending the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on December 10, and a holiday luncheon at the Senior Center on December 20.
The monthly birthday party will be held on December 12 at 3 p.m. to celebrate those having birthdays in December. These residents include Erland Shold, Clarice Krotz, Robert Sherer, and Gloria Marineau. There will be plenty of cake and ice cream, and Doug Sanders will provide the music. Family and friends are invited to join in the fun.
Hilja Iverson will demonstrate the fine art of making lefse on December 18. The residents will get to enjoy one of their favorite Scandinavian treats along with Hilja’s Happy Hour at 2 p.m.
There will be a lot of holiday music and caroling in December. A sing-a-long with Great Expectations students is planned for December 17 at 1:30 p.m., and the St. John’s Choir will be performing on December 22 at 2 p.m. along with Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Susan Scherer on Wednesdays, Tina Krauz on Fridays, and Harris Mills. Family and friends are welcome at any of our music events.
The annual Christmas Eve party with families and friends will be December 24 at 2 p.m. to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus with gifts and goodies for all!
On New Year’s Eve, we will host a dinner theater for the residents. The in-house dinner theater will feature the classic movie “Holiday Inn.” A special meal and bubbly will be served.
The residents and staff of North Shore Health Care Center want to wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
