Holiday Happenings at North Shore Care Center

The spirit of giving is always in season at the North Shore Health Care Center. We want to thank our many volunteers who so generously share their time and talents with us throughout the year. The residents also count their blessings for family, friends, staff, and community members who are so committed to the elders who live here. A special thanks goes out to the American Legion Honor Guard members who came into the Care Center on Veterans Day to honor our veterans.

As the holiday season begins, the giving continues with donations for the Resident Council Holiday Sale and for Secret Santa gifts. The elders look forward to visitors of all ages during December. Many music events are planned during the holidays as well. Amy Schmidt will share her musical talent with us on Dec. 13, and Laura Laky will host a music recital with her students on Dec. 23. Carolers and other musicians will be visiting throughout the holidays, and the care center will ring with festive music. The residents thank all of you for bringing such joy to our home! Additional live music in December will feature Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Al Fuller on Mondays, and Susan Scherer on Wednesdays.

The residents will host their Holiday Sale on Dec. 9 from 1-3 p.m. at the Care Center. There will be holiday ornaments and decorations, a white elephant table, raffle, grab bags, and special treats for sale. All proceeds go to Resident Council Fund.

The cold weather outside doesn’t keep the residents at the Care Center from venturing out to enjoy community festivities. On Dec. 5 we will be attending the Community Christmas Concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and on Dec. 22 we will be joining our friends at Sawtooth Ridges for a holiday party.

The monthly birthday party will be held Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. to honor the residents celebrating birthdays in December. There will be plenty of cake and ice cream along with favorite piano tunes by Doug Sanders.

On Dec. 19, Hilja Iverson will demonstrate her skills at making lefse. The residents will get to enjoy one of their favorite Norwegian treats along with Hilja’s Happy Hour.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting us on Christmas Eve at 2 p.m. There will be gifts for all, along with lots of homemade holiday treats (thanks to our volunteer elf – Barb Wright).

The residents and staff at North Shore Health Care Center want to wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
