Hitting the ground running, finally: a track and field update

Well, after the regression back to winter we finally got in a track and field meet on Tuesday, May 2 in Two Harbors.

We had some stand-out performances on the track and in the field. Alicia Smith threw the shot put 28 feet, which was a big improvement and gave her a 2nd place finish.

The highlights were really within the relays. Our top 4×800 meter girls’ team included Maya McHugh, Louise Ramberg, Molly Thomas, and Bryn Soland and they came in 3rd place with a time of 11:19. The boys’ 4×800 placed 4th with a time of 9:38. This team included Leif Anderson, Will Surbaugh, Jron Tamanaha, and Andy Kern. Our girls’ 4×400 with Zoe Nonnemacher, Molly Thomas, Claire LaVigne, and Maya McHugh placed 3rd in the 4×400 with a time of 4:36. Our boys’ team also had a great 3rd place finish with a time of 3:54. This team included Sam O’Phelan, Leif Anderson, Will Surbaugh, and Jack Haussner.

Andy Kern ran 6:11 minute miles back-to-back in the 2 mile and Jron Tamanaha who ran 6:16 minute miles back-to-back for a time of 12:33 followed him. This was a huge improvement for both of the boys.

 

 

Maya McHugh placed 3rd in the 800m dash with a time of 2:41. Zoe Nonnemacher finished in 4th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.1 and she came in 7th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.5. Sam O’Phelan placed 8th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.9 just edging out Leif Anderson who ran 56 seconds. Jack Haussner placed 5th in the 300-meter hurdles and again improved his time to a 47.8. The Vikings will again compete on Saturday, May 6th in Esko. Events will begin at 10 a.m.
