Historical Reflections

This photo, belonging to Elsie Mosher-McKay, shows the town of Mineral Center circa 1936, with the grocery store and gas station that was run by the Mosher family. Elsie’s daughter, Yvette McKay-Hayes, sent the picture, thinking that others who remember the long-gone town would enjoy seeing it.

A reader has responded to our question of “Who are these folks?” in the March 19 Historical Reflection, which featured a family group at a Grand Marais Lions Club Trout Derby circa 1965. Yvonne Tofte Sabyan of Duluth recognized the group (L-R) as Albert Malner, Cindy Malner, Yvonne Tofte Sabyan (seated), an unknown child behind her, Roger Malner, Shorty Hahn, and Jennie Malner. Yvonne recalled that Roger caught the biggest fish at the Trout Derby!
