Alm’s Store Leased to Howard Joynes

The P.E. Alm Company property has been leased and the dry goods merchandise and business sold to Howard Joynes, effective last Monday, it was announced here this week.

The new owner announced plans for a complete modernization of the building, including a full new set of fixtures, shelving, display counters and show windows.

A member of the Federated Stores, the new company will put in a full new line of quality merchandise shortly after the first of the year. The store will be departmentalized, and will include a complete line of infants wear and an up-to-date shoe booth. Table unit displays will make selection of goods easy for customers.

In order to make room for the new line of merchandise a large clearance sale will be conducted early in January.

Mr. Joynes, who by the way was recently married, is a graduate of the Grand Marais high school in the class of 1936, and the University of Minnesota in the class of 1940. Since leaving school he has been with the J.C. Penney Company Store at Wadena. During his stay in Minneapolis he was also employed part-time in the classified advertising department of the Minneapolis Tribune.

Mrs. Joynes will join her husband here in a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Alm will leave here soon for their annual vacation in Florida.
