With another Trout Derby coming up on March 13, this one sponsored by the Cook County Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club, we thought it would be fun to share another trout derby photo. Julie Carlson of Joynes Department Store has discovered a treasure trove of Lions Club Trout Derby photos at the Grand Marais store. The photos were taken by M.J. Humphrey. According to the note on the back of the photo, not all of the fellows checking in the catch are known. They were Bob Fry, an unknown man smoking a pipe, and Bernie Larsen. The lake where this trout derby took place is also unknown. Does anyone know?
A reader called in to say that the young woman with Walt Mianowski is Cindy Cushman, not Carol Schmidt, as is written on the back of the photo. Can any other readers help with confirming the woman’s identity?
