Historical Reflections





In the December 18, 2010 issue, the News-Herald featured a mystery photo of the “Naniboujou mushers.” The information about the mushers was misplaced when the Cook County Historical Society sent the photo to us. We are happy to provide the news that the historical society does indeed, have more information about the mushers in the photo. Apparently the “Naniboujou Mushers” were Leo Hussey and Fred Brouillette took part in the Ironwood Winter Sports Carnival nFebONE24 – TIME,26, 1928. Thehemen traveled from Grand Marais to Ironwood by automobile and dogsled. Musher Leo Hussey is pictured here in 1919.
