This very interesting photo from the Cook County Historical Society is annotated simply “Naniboujou mushers.” The mushers are advertising the Ironwood Winter Sports Carnival. Are they visiting from Ironwood? But then why are they called the Naniboujou mushers? Are mushers from Naniboujou heading to Ironwood? Where was this photo taken? This historical photo raises many questions—can any readers provide the answers? If you would like to try to identify more old photos, visit the historical society’s “Who, What, Where” page at www.boreal.org/compage/pics/picarchive.html.%5B/caption%5D
