TIME TO PLOW FOR POTATOES IN THE LATE 1930s
This photo was taken near the end of the Great Depression. It is the Modl dairy and potato farm in Antigo, Wisconsin. Antigo soil is silty, and it is especially good for growing potatoes. Grandpa, Charles Modl, is tending to Aunt Donna, while my dad, Marvin Modl, holds the reigns on Dan, one of the great work horses that worked the farm.
