This car looks like it might have returned from the moon! Robert Schauer and Alonzo Hodge were said to have been on their way up the Gunflint Trail to bring back another car that they reportedly cracked up earlier, when they left the road and came to this vertical position against a birch. No wheels touched the ground after landing! This unusual sight (which appeared in the Aug. 29, 1957 News-Herald) drew hundreds of spectators with cameras clicking freely. Amazingly, the men involved walked away from the wreck with only minor injuries.
