More than 150 Native American dancers from throughout the Midwest and Canada danced at the Pow Wows held Aug. 8 and 9, 1986 in Grand Portage. Many of the dancers perform in colorful costumes that take years to make, and participate in celebrations throughout the summer. This year’s annual Grand Portage Pow Wow and Rendezvous Days at the national monument will take place this weekend, Aug. 9-11.
