In January 2004, a runaway semi-truck barreled down the Gunflint Trail, crossed Highway 61, and demolished Tommy Eckel’s historic fish house. The structure was soon rebuilt, and in June 2005 the new fish house was dedicated during the annual Wooden Boat Show at North House Folk School, with Eckel as guest of honor and ribbon-cutter.
