Local game wardens closed in on four poachers in February 1961, and brought them to court before Judge James Creech. The four woodsworkers living north of Tofte all pleaded guilty to taking deer out of season and were fined $210 each. The wardens seized two cars and one rifle and confiscated venison, which is seen in the foreground. The wardens, from left, are Art Johnson, William Richards, Earl Nelms, James Nelson and Charles Ott.
