Cub Scout Pack 167 honored the winners of the “genius kitproject” on Feb. 22, 1961. Each scout was given an identical kit containing a block of wood, a dowel pin, can, spool, string, glue, wire, cloth and nails and tacks, and had one month to work with his father to build something, using only those items. Shown are the winners with their projects, Edward Hedstrom, right, with his sawmill; Steven Talkovich, left, with his gun holster and target; and Chuck Futterer with his Thor missile.
