A crowd of about 200 attended an open house at the Johnson Heritage Post on Dec. 29, 1991, when the doors were opened to the public for the first time. Visitors were able to examine the basic building and mentally picture displays lining the walls. There were very few pictures on display, but organizers said the event offered a sampling of “what is to be.”
