Cook County High School industrial arts teacher Chuck Beberg looks on as Scott Bystrom, left, and Doug Schinn tackle the task of disassembling two Briggs & Stratton four-cycle engines. Thirty students (three of them girls) participated in the new vocationally-oriented small engines class that was offered in 1979 with the financial assistance of the Minnesota Department of Education-Vocational Education Division. Students had to take apart and put back together a lawn mower engine, as seen here, or could bring in their own small engines to work on; snowmobile engine work seemed to be the most popular.
