A 20-plus-year tradition was continued in February 1979 when Lions Club Trout Derby Chairman Pappy Wright, left, and prize committee chairman Steve Quaife displayed the prizes to be given away to the winning ice fishermen. The three-day gala-filled event on Gunflint Lake included a Fun Night at Kerfoot’s Kove, guided snowmobile trail rides, and the Grand Marais Grand Tour Cross Country Ski Race-Tour at Pincushion.
