Historical Reflections

The 18th running of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Race was a festive occasion in January 1998. Winners were Jamie Nelson of Togo, Marathon; Dan Bergerson of Grand Rapids, Beargrease 190; and Bruce Kohlhase of Minneapolis, Beargrease 100. As usual the race course featured several checkpoints along the way, including this one staffed by Bill Berry and his flock of penguins, who staffed the teepee at the Devil Track checkpoint.
