A driverless runaway logging truck inflicted considerable damage to the home of Alvin O. Anderson on the corner of Fourth Street and First Avenue East in May 1976. The truck crashed into the rear corner of the residence, causing an undetermined amount of damage to the north and east walls. A spokesman for the company that owns the truck said it was parked on the west side of First Avenue East when it was evidently tampered with by vandals who released the brakes. Damage to the truck was estimated at over $7,000. The family was not home at the time of the accident.
