The North Shore Women’s Bowling Association was well represented at the Women’s International Bowling Congress in Houston, Texas in April 1974. The local group included, from left, Nona Smith, Rachel Helmerson, Norma Wilson, Dolly Johnson, Alma Olson and Shirley Olson. The tournament was held at the 72-lane Stadium Bowl and saw participation by 5,734 five-woman teams, 13,831 doubles and 27,662 singles during the competition which ran from April 4 through May 18. The local ladies took part in the events for teams, doubles and singles, and called the experience a “most unforgettable week.”
