Six drums from reservations throughout Minnesota, Canada and Wisconsin provided many hours of singing and music during the weekend Grand Portage Pow-Wow and Rendezvous Days in August 1983. Crowds at the pow-wow grounds and Grand Portage National Monument were treated to a variety of activities including a fiddling contest, dances, crafts, a turkey shoot, voyageur contests, and of course – lots of delicious food including mooseburgers and fry bread.
