August Bade, a former Major League baseball pitcher with the Chicago White Sox, celebrated his 89th birthday at the North Shore Nursing Home on March 29, 1974. August said he is always excited about the coming of baseball season and shared some stories of his playing days and teammates, who included Babe Ruth. Asked about the most exciting play he was ever involved in, the former pitcher said it was triple play executed by his infielders after the catcher missed his bases-loaded wild pitch.
