Historical Reflections

A 20-ton liquefied petroleum gas tank was put into use by the Grand Marais Bottle Gas Company in January 1960. Gene Nelson, manager of the company, said that increased business justified expansion of storage facilities. The tank has an 18,000-gallon capacity, whereas the old tank (shown in background, which will still be used) holds about 6,000 gallons. The new tank was fabricated in Memphis, Tennessee and transported here direct by truck.
