Historical Reflections

With the recent conclusion of another successful golf scramble, North Shore Health Care Foundation Executive Director Karl Hansen shared this March 6, 1995 News-Herald photo showing the project which was the very first to benefit from the Foundation’s efforts – an infant resuscitation table. In the photo, from left, are nurse Gayle Brett supporting Jeffrey Fenwick, whose newborn brother Luke is seen demonstrating the table, and Jean Ljungkull and Suellen Kruse, members of the Foundation looking on. Hansen noted that Jennifer and Bob Fenwick, the boys’ parents, participated in this year’s tournament along with Jeff, although Luke was unable to attend. Five thousand dollars was donated to the hospital to help pay for the new equipment, which was capable of many functions including warming, examinations, X-rays, oxygen administration, and monitoring of circulation, respiration and heart rate.
