Some of the 65 old-timers who attended the gathering during the 1953 Fisherman’s Picnic included, from left, Martin and Theresa Bockovich, and Mr. and Mrs. B.A. Rude. Bev Johnson, chairman of the picnic, said the event was the most successful Fisherman’s Picnic ever. Hundreds of people crowded the village waterfront Saturday and Sunday, and the fishburger stand served about 285 pounds of herring fillets, which is also believed to be a record.
