Four girls from the North Star 4-H Club were selected to participate in the 1966 state 4-H Share-the-Fun Festival at Brainerd. They were picked by a state selection committee on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota from among the top three acts at the Cook County 4-H Festival held in Grand Marais in April. This group, known as “The Four Fats,” dressed in colorful costumes to do a humorous clown dance. Shown in this July 21, 1966 photo are, from left, Gail Thompson, Patsy Smith, Susan Saethre and Damora Thompson.

The photo featured in the July 9 Historical Reflections misidentified the young man pedaling the bike in the 1961 Grand Marais Fourth of July parade. He is Alan Hedstrom, not Dale Hedstrom, as he was originally labeled in the 1961 News-Herald. According to alert reader John Ottis, “no Dale exists…A great reflection though.”
