The weather on July 4, 1961 was described as “perfect” for the annual parade in downtown Grand Marais. Shown in this photo is Dale Hedstrom pulling his sister Margaret, who is proudly displaying the flag. In addition to the children’s decorated entries, the parade also included the high school band, Boy Scouts, costume and humorous divisions, vehicle groups and bicycles.
