Alfred M. Fenstad of Grand Marais announced his candidacy for auditor of Cook County in this May 29, 1930 advertisement. Mr. Fenstad notes that he is interested in the “proper and efficient” handling of the taxpayers’ money, and is “well informed as to the needs of my county, having visited every nook of same, [and] know the problems that confront the different localities.” Fenstad finished last of six candidates in the June 16 primary election, garnering just 43 votes. The winner was Gladys Carter, who received 468 votes.
