Historical Reflections








Memorial Day 2006 was sunny and clear. A respectful crowd gathered on the Cook County Courthouse lawn at 11 a.m. to commemorate the day with American Legion Post 413. Post Commander Don Wilson welcomed everyone. Pastor Ken Peterson of the Evangelical Free Church offered a prayer. Irene Thompson sang the national anthem. The American Legion Auxiliary laid a memorial wreath and the ceremony concluded when Jim Johnson played Taps on his bugle.
