This trophy-size lake trout, weighing 29½ pounds, was Patti Nelson’s reward following a fishing trip she and her husband George made to Isle Royale on July 11, 1980. When registered at Midway Station in Grand Marais, the lunker measured 40 inches and had a 25- inch girth. Patti said it took 35 minutes of hard work to land the trout, one of a number the Lutsen Resort couple caught that day.
