Running in the first annual Tofte Trek foot race on July 4, 1980 were the West End Trail Runners (L-R, front) Maribeth Nelson, Jan Horak and Spencer Motschenbacher. (L-R, back) Jeff Sadjak, Dale Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Erik Scott and Rick Scott. Missing from the picture is Tim Norman. The group won the team competition in the race. Jerry Jackson of Grand Marais won the six-mile race, which had 32 participants.
