Lyle Phillips of Pittsburg, California shared this lovely old photo of Highway 61. He believes it is of Cutface Creek, commonly known as the Rock Cut. The scenic spot, west of Grand Marais, looks quite a bit different today. The photo was taken by M.J. Humphrey and appears to have been colorized in Humphrey’s iconic style. Lyle said he thinks it was taken in the 1960s. The photo hung for many years in a rental cottage in Croftville belonging to his parents, Marvin and Esther Phillips.
