The machine was purchased in 1974 to process the monthly utility bills and utilized post card billing versus the old card-and-envelope type bills. The machine was also used for both PUC and City of Grand Marais employees’ payroll beginning in January 1975, according to the Oct. 24, 1974 edition of the Cook County News-Herald.
