Historical Reflections

This photo of the Fisherman’s Picnic organizers (sometimes referred to as the “brain trust”) appeared in the June 6, 1957 issue of the Cook County News-Herald. The caption tells us: At a May 24 meeting of the Lions Club Committee, the date for the Fisherman’s Picnic was changed from the first week in August to August 8, 9, 10 and 11. The reason for the change was that the first days in August conflicted with the Fort William Centennial celebration. The committee is (L-R, back) Wesley Hedstrom, Ed Humphrey, Ted Wynn, Frank Lehto, Jim Pedersen. (L-R, front) Emil Hall, John M. Blackwell, Alton Olson, Harold Norby, Chuck Futterer. Futterer and Norby are the co-chairmen of the picnic.
