Jane Gellner recently celebrated her 30th year of teaching business education at Cook County High School. Gellner was featured in the May 22, 1989 Cook County News-Herald after being named the 1989 - 1990 Teacher of the Year by the Cook County Education Association. The News-Herald article said Ms. Gellner, originally from North Dakota, began teaching at CCHS in the fall of 1984. Ann Mershon wrote, “This was her first teaching position and she met the challenge with both creativity and energy, eventually building the district’s business program into one that is known across the state. Her greatest innovation has been the Integrated Business Simulation course, a two-hour class where students actually participate in a simulated business environment.” The article also lauded Gellner for coaching cheerleading for four years.
