The Cook County High School class of 1964 was hailed as the largest ever, with 70 graduates receiving their diplomas June 5 in the school auditorium. It was also the first year that no valedictorian or salutatorian was named. C.W. Wood, personnel director at UMD, delivered the keynote speech and told the grads that three things are necessary for success: a student must have a goal; he must have drive, determination and motivation to reach that goal; and he must be willing to work to achieve what he sets out to do. Shown in this News-Herald photo commemorating the occasion are Donn Boostrom, right, receiving his diploma and congratulations from Principal Leonard Sobanja. It was the 55th annual graduation ceremony to be held at the school.
