Historical Reflections

There were numerous celebrations in Schroeder as work on the Cross River Heritage Center progressed. There was a ceremony with the Minnesota Department of Transportation when the historic Stickney store was deeded to the Town of Schroeder in 2001. There were gatherings every year during John Schroeder Days until the official opening of the heritage center in 2003. Pictured here are founding members of the Schroeder Area Historical Society Margaret and Kermit Carlsen doing the honors at the 2003 event—sawing a log instead of cutting a ribbon! Between Margaret and Kermit is Tim Dickenson, representing his mother, Carolyn Miller. The young boys watching are Ryan Martinson (left) and Jesse Johnson (right).
