Historical Reflections

The 1962 Fisherman’s Picnic parade featured this entry by the Shold & Lovaas Mobil service station. Pictured are Martha Lake and Roberta Olson with a 1930 Model A. The car is one of many owned by the family of Bob Olson, author of Two Bucks and a Can of Gas: Model A Adventures on the Gunflint Trail. Over the years, Bob’s father owned every type of 1930 Model A made by the Ford Motor Company. Bob’s book, which was recently reviewed in the News-Herald, is about his favorite Model A, a pickup that he drove during many Northland adventures and that he owns to this day. Bob and his wife Kay Olson live on the Gunflint Trail.
