Historical Reflections

Tomteboda Log Cabins, now part of the Grand Marais Inn on the western end of Grand Marais, are pictured here in a postcard circa 1948. This picture of the cabins originally built in 1925 by Swedish settlers is part of the Minnesota Historical Society’s photograph collection. Today’s advertising echoes that of 1948, “A leisurely stroll from the Tomteboda takes you to nearby restaurants, shopping and the Lake Superior shoreline.”
