Historical Reflections





On June 21, 1961, the Cook County High School band marched down the Atlantic City Boardwalk, taking part in the International Lions Club convention parade. The Lions Club, band parents, community members and businesses helped raise $8,000 to fund the trip, which included a visit to Washington, D.C. Congressman John Blatnik (behind the students) presented Band Director Harold Ikola with a U.S. flag.
