It was more common in days gone by to move houses from place to place. This photo shows just such a project. The building being moved in this photo is the “Hussey house.” It stood on what is now the American Legion parking lot in downtown Grand Marais. You can see the side of the Legion building on the left. The house wasn’t moved far, just a few blocks away in Grand Marais, but that is most likely a good thing, as the Ford truck doing the moving is dwarfed by the home. The mover was Carl Mort. Thanks to Delores Saethre for sharing this picture, which was in her husband, Lyle’s photo collection. The date and the identification of the two men in the photo are unknown. Do any News-Herald readers recognize them or remember this event?
