The Happy Hikers will hike along the beautiful Cascade River gorge with views of the waterfalls, and continue climbing through the forest to Lookout Mountain, where there are great views of the surrounding area and Lake Superior. Difficulty Level: Moderate, 3.2-mile loop. We will have lunch at a small shelter near the top of the mountain. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.
Meet at the YMCA parking lot near the tennis courts at 9:00 a.m. We’ll carpool to the Cascade River Trailhead, 7 miles west of Grand Marais, along Hwy. 61. Suggested donation for drivers: $3.
What to bring: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, hiking sticks, water, and a sack lunch.
