Higher taxes and bigger government won’t help economy

In response to Jamie Johnson, I agree that President Obama was dealt a bad hand. However, the president has had four years to improve the economy and his policies have failed.

His political decision to focus on green energy in the near term was a bridge too far. Green energy is too expensive and can’t compete with fossil fuels. His Energy Secretary Steven Chu admits that the price of gas would need to rise to the levels in Europe in order for electric cars to become competitive. People in this country are buying low cost fuel-efficient cars made in Korea, not the Chevy Volt.

Just today another battery company, A123, went bankrupt. It is the fifth of eight battery companies that received grants from the Obama Administration to go bankrupt.

You state that President Obama needs 20 years to fix what is broken…the country cannot wait that long.

You also state that you believe that everyone should play by the same rules and that hard work should be rewarded. The five percent of the population that pays 75 percent of the income tax in this country have worked hard…yet you want to take more from them and give to others.

Income redistribution did not work in the Soviet Union. It is not working in Cuba. It is not working in Europe. Why should this country adopt a failed strategy?

I have never been more concerned about this country. I cannot recall a time when the country has been so divided. The rhetoric has changed completely in four years. We have gone from “no blue states or red states, only the United States” to class warfare where he demonizes successful people.

We should not be demonizing these people, we should be celebrating their success. I truly believe that the president wants to help the middle class…he just doesn’t have a plan. The country and the middle class need jobs and a strong economy. Higher taxes and bigger government will not provide them.
