Longtime nursing instructor Mark Abrahamson will be honored at an Open House at the Cook County Higher Education on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Cook County Higher Education invites the community to a special “Dedication Event” on Saturday, December 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at an Open House at the North Shore Campus. “Come and celebrate with us as we honor Mark Abrahamson,” said CCHE Executive Director Paula Sundet Wolf.

For the past 17 years, Abrahamson has been the instructor for all of the Higher Ed nursing assistant classes, in addition to teaching licensed practical nursing and registered nursing clinicals. “Almost all of those students have gone to work in the health care field, most of them right here in Cook County,” said Sundet Wolf.

“To honor his passion and commitment we will be dedicating the lower level nursing lab classroom to him and installing a plaque naming the room the Mark Abrahamson Classroom. You, will have a chance to hear Mark and his students stories and learn about what an impact this has had on our community. This will be a great chance to see and hear the impact of your continued support of Cook County Higher Education,” said Sundet Wolf.

If you cannot attend the open house, Sundet Wolf said Higher Ed would happily accept a renewal or additional donation to Higher Ed. She said the “Friends of Cook County Higher Education” dollars are used for student support services, which includes the CCHE mentor program, textbook scholarships, instructor services (like Abrahamson), and some nursing classroom needs.

“Thanks to board members, staff, and other generous patrons of education, we have matching funds on the table, so this is an excellent time to make your contribution count even more,” said Sundet Wolf.

The North Shore Campus is located at 300 W. 3rd St. (the corner of 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue) in Grand Marais.
